A day after this, police revealed that the factory had license of making electronic toys and small goods but were making firecrackers.
As the blast posed a serious question mark on the district administration, who couldn't get to know about such a huge illegal unit running under their nose, a 10-member team was formed to inspect the industrial area.
"We have inspected around 23 factories, out of which 10 were found shut, and two, under construction. We have issued notices to eight factories found violating the environment and safety norms," said Hapur DM Medha Roopam.
The administration team inspected the Madhusudan Industries unit located at plot number F-56. Here, the owner had kept 15 workers' families, including children, inside the factory premises. Giving an ultimatum for displacement of families, the officials have given instructions to seal the unit.
